Join BBG Boston & electronic artist, Ximena, on Saturday, August 12th from noon to 5:00pm as we record found sounds on the beach, and then edit them into a sample pack at The Record Co.
We will gather at Malibu Beach in Boston and learn how to collect found sounds on the beach using our cell phones and field recorders. We will then break for lunch (provided) and head to The Record Co. At TRC, we will use their laptops and Ableton Live to edit the found sounds and turn them into music samples.
This workshop is for adults 18+ and designed for all levels. Beginners will focus on making 1-3 samples, while more experienced participants will be encourages to record and edit more sounds. At the end of the workshop, we will collect everyone's samples and turn them into a sample pack.
What Is A Sample Pack?
"A sample pack is a collection of sounds that are designed to use as pre-made building blocks for producers to create music with. These sounds usually consist of loops (a musical phrase that can repeat such as a guitar riff) and one-shots (a single sound such as a kick drum)." – Melodics
